Having fun in Abaco Bahamas
Abaco is lots of fun! There is more to do than first meets the eye. Every Cay has a historic settlement and they all have some outstanding feature, whether it is the iconic
Hope Town lighthouse or
Nipper's Bar on the Guana Cay beach. There are many
beaches and reefs to explore. You can drop anchor (be careful) at Fowl Cay and spend the whole day
snorkeling and beachcombing.
North and south on the mainland, there are quaint settlements where you can meet some "real people" and buy fish right from the fishermen.
Treasure Cay beach is world reknown and you can have lunch at the Coco Bar. In the opposite direction, whether by land or sea, the inimitable
Pete's Pub is a destination for many.
Green Turtle Cay has lead the way in historical conservation and its museum, sculpture garden, Captain Roland Robert's house and the Olde Gaol are well worth the visit.
Hope Town also has a restored settlement of 18th and 19th century colonial homes. The support of many of our vacation home owners have contributed greatly to these efforts.
Fishing is one of the main attractions on Abaco. Please see our useful fishing chart for the latest catch regulations.
Whether on the placid waters of the Sea of Abaco or out to the challenging Atlantic Ocean, every angler will find his niche. Have you ever tried bonefishing? Our expert guides will take you into the creeks where the "most fightingest" fish abound.
There are full service marinas
on every cay, Man O'War being famous as the home of the redoubtable Albury's Abaco Dinghy. Duty free shopping is plentiful with great buys on watches, perfume and jewelry. Many
locals, visitors and vacationing residents paint pictures and their works can be found in our many
gift shops and
galleries.
We love living here. In a very subtle way, Abaco gets under your skin. As a prominent home owner on
Eastern Shores
says, "Either you get it , or you don't". Abaco is not for everyone. However, if your idea of Paradise is a laid back atmosphere with beautiful turquoise waters, friendly people, quaint places to explore and casual tropical living, then
Abaco is ready for you.
